The history of The George Hotel dates back to 1597 when horse drawn coaches stopped outside on their way to London. These days are long gone, but one thing that the hotel was struggling to move on from was hot water pressure and excessive energy consumption issues.
Today, the building is undergoing a pilot scheme of green improvements, including low-temperature Thermate radiators, low-temperature central heating and hot water systems with a heat pump.
There are many fascinating facts about The George. One of them surely is the installation of a voltage optimiser and astonishing energy savings that it made. To put it plainly, compared to the energy bills from before the installation, the hotel’s bar and three newly annexed bedrooms are now operating free of charge.
